Bike Check: Lief Rodgers Anthem Advanced Pro 29

Teams/Riders

Giant Canada Off-Road Team member Leif Rodgers will be competing at the Junior Mountain Bike World Championships on August 26th. Ahead of his trip to Italy, we caught up with him and his Giant Anthem Advanced Pro 29 to see his set-up.

Coming from Port Moody, BC Lief Rodgers is used to technical and steep singletrack. But as the racecourses seem to be getting tougher and the skillset of riders needs to be more than just brute power numbers. The next wave of XC racers are heavily armed in this department and can easily hold their own in the Enduro circuit too. Lief has chosen the Anthem Advanced Pro 29 as his weapon of choice. He is looking for #purexcspeed.

At 90mm of rear travel and 100mm up front complete with full lockouts all round from Fox, Lief can smash the climbs and then drop into the rootiest gnarliest downhill the North Shore has to offer. That accompanied with a dropper seat post and riser bars you would mistake this bike as a trail bike. But as locals know this is a typical BC XC bike.

The drivetrain is a mix of Raceface Next SL carbon cranks with interchangeable Cinch rings to allow him to tailor the bike to different course profiles and a Shimano XTR 10-51 cassette. Stopping power is taken care of by the proven XTR race brakes and rotors. The bike rolls on Nobl TR 32 wheels and Maxxis Reckon Race tires. Depending on conditions Lief also uses the Aspen Tire as an alternative.

The cockpit is stiff and responsive thanks to the Raceface Next SL 35 bars and Turbine stem. The Giant Canada Off-Road Team is very fortunate to be supported by our amazing local partners like Fox Suspension, Raceface, Easton Cycling, 100% and HLC Bike.

While representing Canada at World Championships Lief will also be riding in our new Rev Pro MIPS Helmet, Charge Pro Shoes and Transfer Socks.
